Ethical Screening is run by a dedicated team with a wealth of experience in the ethical investment, environmental, social and corporate research fields.

Mike Head

Mike has worked in the financial services industry since 1982, with both investment providers and advisers; and was key to the establishment of Ethical Screening back in 1998. His roles include developing new business opportunities and the existing client base; product development; and management of the business. Mike's contacts with investors and managers as a financial advisor, keep our services relevant to those who use them.

Matthew Ayres

Matt has worked in financial services since 2000, with Ethical Screening and in financial planning, both in technical roles and as a client facing adviser, playing a key role in developing our research and client processes. In addition to day-to-day management of the business, his roles include the management and development of new and existing client relationships; helping to ensure our products and processes meet our clients' needs.

Gerard Llewellyn

Gerard has worked in responsible investment since 1997, and has been with Ethical Screening since it was founded in 1998. His roles include the development and maintenance of our ethical screening criteria, research methods and management systems; designing and developing products and services for our individual, charity and institutional client; and day-to-day management of the business.

Juliana Burden

Juliana is responsible for managing the output of our research team, from ensuring our core processes are meeting our clients' needs, to staff training and quality control. She is also involved in client-specific research and reporting for individuals, charities and institutions. Special interests include access to medicines; and the extractive industries and their environmental and social impacts, with a particular interest in South America.

Elina Vikmane

Elina is responsible for coordinating and producing the ethical screens for individual client investment portfolios. Elina has also been working with our charity clients, assisting with the development of their ethical investment policies. Alongside the client work, Elina contributes to developing the research of ethical issues and updating our database of the ethical performance of companies.

Jim Blackstock

Jim is involved in all of our core research areas, with a particular focus on positive screening, and the UN SDGs. He is also involved in developing our Funds Database, and building relationships with Funds Database sponsors. Jim has a broad background in sustainable development and research, working on projects ranging from watershed management to gender-based violence.

Elisabeth Ottosen

Elisabeth is involved in all of our core research areas, with a particular focus on governance; and on client-specific research some of our charity clients. Special interests include animal rights, supply chain issues and the social and environmental effects associated with over-consumption and population pressures. Elisabeth has a background in corporate governance research and analysis.

Phoebe Spey

Phoebe is involved in all of our core research areas. In addition to general research, analysis and monitoring of corporate activities she has a particular focus on corporate, social, and governance performance and practices, and developing our ESG offering. Phoebe has a particular interest in oceans, water, shipping, maritime law, human rights and animal welfare.

Helen Duley

Helen joined Ethical Screening's research team in 2021. She is involved in our core data gathering processes, researching company activities and analysing their performance against our ethical, ESG and sustainability criteria. Helen has a particular interest in social justice, the impact of corporate activity on the natural world, and sustainable tourism. She has an MSc in Environment and Development from the University of Edinburgh.

Arthur Kearney

Arthur joined the Ethical Screening research team in 2021. He is involved in our core data gathering processes, researching company activities and analysing their performance against our ethical, ESG and sustainability criteria. Arthur has a particular interest in labour rights and employment standards in global supply chains; and the use of the SDGs to advance such standards. He has a degree in Development Studies from the University of Lund, Sweden.

Calum Palmer

Calum joined the Ethical Screening research team in 2020. He is involved in our core data gathering processes, researching and analysing company performance against our ethical, ESG and sustainability criteria. Calum's interests include sustainability, ethical consumerism, animal rights, gender inequality, and LGBTQ+ issues. He studied International Development at the University of East Anglia with a key focus on natural resources, gender, and social anthropology.

Jonny White

Jonny joined Ethical Screening's research team in 2020. He is involved in our core data gathering processes, researching company activities and analysing their performance against our ethical, ESG and sustainability criteria. Jonny has a particular interest in nuclear disarmament, workers’ rights and the environment. He has a MSc in International Relations from the University of Bristol.
