Charities are value-led organisations whose principles are likely to be shared by donors, and beneficiaries. Donors expect to see the aims and objectives of the charities they support reflected in the way they interact with society at large. For many charities that will include the way in which donated funds are invested.
Our Services for Charities
Ethical Screening has wide experience of assisting charities to develop appropriate ethical investment strategies. Our services are designed to help you achieve compliance with guidelines issued by the Charity Commission on the extent to which ethical considerations can be taken into account in a charity’s investment policy.
We can help you:
- Clarify why your charity is considering ethical investment;
- Develop a written ethical investment policy;
- Review existing investments to identify possible conflicts with your charitable aims and objects
- Identify investments which may further the objects of the charity
- Work with your investment manager to ensure the policy is implemented
- Review your policies and portfolio on an on-going basis to ensure your expectations are being met
To help charities, not-for-profit organisations and other socially responsible enterprises take the first steps in ethical investing we have developed the Charity Investment Ethics Database. This free online resource enables registered users to determine, in broad terms, whether the activities of the companies in which they have an interest (through investment or donations for example) may conflict with their charitable aims.
